The International Chocolate Awards is pleased to announce the Winners of the 2025 Peruvian Competition, the 10° Concurso Nacional de Chocolate Peruano, which was judged remotely in Peru and also by our international pool of judges and Grand Jury during June-July 2025.
This competition spotlights the creativity, innovation, and deep-rooted cacao culture that continues to define Peru as one of the world’s most exciting craft chocolate origins.
This year’s judging revealed not only technical excellence but a continued emphasis on origin traceability, local ingredients, and bold innovation. From traditional bars to inspired flavour infusions, Peru’s makers are setting a high standard both nationally and globally.
The winners were announced on 19 July 2025 in Lima, Peru as part of the Salón del Cacao y Chocolate in person at a delightful ceremony.
Last year, the Peruvian competition became part of the World Final series of the International Chocolate Awards, and thus its winners are eligible to enter the World Final competition organized in October 2025. Just like last year, the competition saw a record number of entries again, from all over the country.
Judges
The judging panel included our regular judges from Peru, along with many of our IICCT alumni and other specialists from the local area and members of our international Grand Jury panel.
All judging was anonymized, including the Grand Jury final session, where Golds, Silver and Bronze prizes were awarded by private voting according to the Grand Jury rules.
See the list of Grand Jury Finalists here.
Competition Highlights
The strongest products reflected not just exceptional cacao but an intimate understanding of flavour layering – especially through local ingredients like Sal de Maras, Lucuma, Camu Camu, Aguaje, Cedrón, and Zapallo Nativo. While producers like Chocolatería Pumatiy and Renacer Chocolatier were recognised for exploring Theobroma speciosum and subincanum, pushing boundaries while staying rooted in Amazonian biodiversity. Many winning products also reflect a dual commitment to local culinary heritage and fine chocolate innovation, such as Lomo Saltado ganaches, Turrón de Doña Pepa pralines, and Chicha Morada bars.
Many Gold and Silver winners came from small producers who also cultivate or ferment their own cacao—illustrating Peru’s vibrant bean-to-bar ecosystem. With scores above 90, pure cacao expressions like Altoshima’s 100% and ChocoMuseo’s inclusion bars show that bold, unsweetened profiles are earning critical acclaim.
The 2025 Peruvian Competition affirms Peru’s position as a powerhouse in craft chocolate, blending deep respect for its unique cacao origins with fearless creativity and technical mastery.
