El Concurso Nacional de Chocolate Mexicano will be held for the first time in Mexico from September 24 to October 26, 2023, under the auspices of the International Chocolate Awards and
the Tabasco Tourism Office (Secretaría de Turismo de Tabasco) with the aim of promoting the emerging fine chocolate industry and fine cacao production in Mexico. It is one of the virtual
activities of the Festival del Chocolate Tabasco 2023 in its 12th edition Origen que Transciende (Transcending Origin), November 15-19, 2023, in Villahermosa, Tabasco.

This contest, the first of its kind in Mexico, a historic cacao-producing country, will take place in Villahermosa, Tabasco and is open to all organizations, companies and chocolatiers in Mexico,
accepting the following products: chocolate bars of origin (dark, with milk and white); flavored chocolate bars – natural flavoring ingredients – (dark, milk and white) with infusions or powders,
with inclusions and fillings, pralines, bonbons, chocolate-coated fruits, chocolate spreads, and cacao ingredients such as cocoa powder and cocoa butter.

The competition will be carried out according to a duly validated online system and will be in two stages, after receipt and coding of products, 1) General Evaluation, which consists of an
appreciation of the products by a heterogeneous group of evaluators (qualified national and international guest judges) 2) Final Evaluation by a highly specialized Grand Jury.

This 1er. Concurso Nacional de Chocolate Mexicano (First National Mexican Chocolate Competition) constitutes one of the virtual activities of the 12th Edition of the Festival del
Chocolate Tabasco 2023 and the Awards Ceremony will take place at the Festival on November 18, 2023.


Eligibility

Open to all Mexican companies with their main office or headquarters located in Mexico. The competition accepts entries from the following types of products: plain/origin chocolate bars
(dark, milk or white); flavored bars (dark, milk or white), with natural flavoring ingredients, with infusions, inclusions, pralines and drageés. bonbons, chocolate-coated fruits, chocolate spreads,
and cacao ingredients such as cocoa powder and cocoa butter.

We are not accepting products with a shelf life of less than two months for this competition in the following categories: ganaches, truffles/ bonbons, and spreads. We do not accept drinking
chocolate and alcoholic drinks with chocolate. The international Chocolate Awards holds a yearly world competition for these products, which is open to producer from all over the world,
including Mexico.

The 1er Concurso Nacional de Chocolate Mexicano is a Cacao Country Support Competition and not part of our World Final qualifying series of competitions for 2023. National prizes will
be presented in Villahermosa as part of the activities of the Festival del Chocolate Tabasco 2023.

The admission fee for this competition is USD $25 and the fee for each entry is USD $20. Prices will be converted into local currency by your credit card company, if required.
